CMI UNIT 524: Develop the Aim, Objectives and Scope of the Proposed Management Project: Conducting a Management Project, Assignment, CU, UK
| University | Conventry University (CU) |
| Subject | CMI UNIT 524: Conducting a Management Project |
AC 1.1 Develop the Aim, Objectives and Scope of the Proposed Management Project
I have been tasked with, as my role as a manager, of putting together a new course proposal for East Riding College, that we can deliver within the electrical department. The course is entitled “City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2022 (2382 – 22) 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.”
AIM
The aim of this course is to train up electricians, new and old, to the current IET BS 7671 Wiring Regulations. The IET Wiring Regulations are being constantly amended, so electricians will need to make sure they are aware and trained up to the current regulations.
It is a 3-day course, and the candidates will understand the current regulations, where to find them in a book and how to apply these in the real world. This qualification is essential for anyone working in the electrical installation industry.
OBJECTIVE
The objective is to make sure that if you are working in electrical installations, that you are designing and installing to the latest regulations. Every installation since 2019 needs to be designed and installed in line with the current Wiring Regulations.
SCOPE
As mentioned, it is a 3-day course which can be delivered comfortably in a classroom to 10 students at a time. There is an on line 2-hour exam at the end of the third day, so the exam room will be required. The students will be supplied with a copy of the current regulations book as part of the course fee. The exam will be at an extra cost to the student.

AC 1.2 Specify a Research Approach for the Proposed Management Project
The research approach that we will be using for this proposal is qualitative. This basically means that the data that we collect will be done through face to face/teams interviews, focus groups and/or observations. Using this approach will aim to provide a detailed understanding of the experiences and perspectives of those involved in the project.
There is also quantitative methods used for research. These can provide important information about trends and patterns, they can only sometimes capture the nuances and complexities of human behaviour. Therefore, qualitative methods are best suited for this project.
AC1.3 Specify the Research Methods to be Used to Collect Data and Information[JC1]
Effective project management often relies on gathering and analysing data and information to inform decision-making and strategy. This involves using both primary and secondary data collection methods to obtain comprehensive and reliable information.
Primary Data refers to information collected directly from first-hand sources for the specific purpose of the research project. This data is original and tailored to meet the project’s specific objectives.
There are different methods used to collect the needed data. Questionnaires and surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, workshops and pilot testing.
Secondary Data refers to information that has already been collected and published by other sources. This data can be used to supplement primary data or provide context and background information.
Things such as literature reviews, industry reports and market analysis, online databases and repositories and government publications.
