This assignment will require you to present a critical review of;

“Explain how the principal sustainability megatrends present risks and opportunities for strategic importance for your organisation and apply an action plan to address them.”

All elements of Unit 1 will be assessed through this assignment.

The Assignment should be submitted within 8 weeks of the end of the contact time of the module. It is expected that the assignment should be based on approximately 40 hours of independent learning.

•  Conduct a review into which environmental/sustainability megatrends are relevant to your organisation’s activities, products or services. The review should demonstrate a depth and breadth of learning and own reading into existing literature, evidence of extensive literature review and a critical appraisal of your organisation.
• Identify the short, medium and long term risks and opportunities to your organisation presented by the megatrends. Try to quantify or qualify the scale of the risk or opportunity where possible and where applicable apply a relevant issue-specific risk assessment model to better understand the issue.
•  Identify what actions your organisation should take to either minimise the risks or maximise the opportunities identified and relevant indicators to track progress.

The report should be word processed in English and not exceed 6000 words excluding references. The report should be supported by an appropriate range of references and examples from your own research and experiences. Appendices can be used outside of the word count but only add an appendix if the information is critical to the marker’s understanding and the document is not available publically.

The group presentation will require you to;

“Deliver a presentation on the allocated company’s exposure to the global megatrends.”

The presentation, to be delivered on the final day of the module is presenting the research on the allocated organisation’s exposure to the global megatrends. The delegates can use presenting aides as appropriate, the presentation is to be 15 to 20 minutes in duration. At least 3 hours’ research and preparation time is factored into the course timetable.

This will involve an outline of which megatrends the company is exposed to and to what extent, and the rationale behind the findings.
