Task Description

Mapping to assignment:

You are required to produce a 250k word report where you will demonstrate your understanding of how children and children can be used to improve their lives.
Additionally, following the accepted academic structure for a report, Guidance on how to structure the report can be found below. The four used within the report must be either Arial, Calibril or Times New Roman and be font size 12.
NOTE: The word count does not include the words used on the title page, contents page, the appendices (Fukun) and the references list.

Within the report you need to demonstrate your understanding on the importance of social, economic, and environmental changes on the nature of morbidity and mortality in the UK, you should select one social development, one economic development and one environmental develop and outline how both morbidity and mortality have been impacted in the UK (AC 1.1). When looking at each of the developments you could consider areas such as: air quality, poverty, employment/unemployment, access to adequate health care, safe and secure housing, education, or the energy crisis.

The report must include an analysis on the findings of research into inequality in health or social care provision in three of the following: Age, Disability, Gender, Sexuality, Class/Attitude, Ethnicity/Culture, Geography/Postcode. (AC 2.1) The report should include a discussion on the issues associated with measuring inequality. (AC 2.2) When discussing the issues you could consider what is being measured; is this the correct/best method of measuring being used, for example.

Within the report you should also explain patterned inequalities in health and illness. (AC 3.1) You should consider the differences in health between people or groups or people that may be considered unfair. For example, the pattern between cases of deprivation and life expectancy.

The report needs to include an evaluation of sources of evidence with regards to protected characteristics. When researching protected characteristics, you need to consider where information and data was obtained and evaluate each of the sources. When evaluating the sources, you should consider if the information found is reliable, biased, up to date and trustworthy. (AC 3.2)

You also need to evaluate the relationship between theories of health and welfare inequalities and their impact of these on the development of health policies. Firstly, consider the different theories of health policies that have been theory. (There are four theories to consider) Consider 2 health policies that have been developed and relate these to a theory of health. To meet this ACI in full you need to evaluate the relationship between the health development and a theory of health. (AC 3.3) For example, a health development policy could be “this 5 a day” campaign, smoking cessation, sugary drinks tax etc.
