Task One – Slide Deck with Presenter Notes 

You are required to create a slide deck with presenter notes for the next board meeting regarding Diversity and Inclusion within organizations. You will include key legislation and case studies within your work.
Using a maximum of 10 slides you will need to include the following into your presentation: 

  • An assessment of the value of diversity and inclusion in organisations for employees, customers and wider stakeholder (AC 1.1) 

Moral/social case includes respect, dignity, acceptance and understanding of cultural differences, tolerance, friendship, safety and wellbeing, community relations, gender pay gap. Business case, organisation benefits from greater flexibility, the opportunity to access wider talent pools, improved decision-making, greater innovation and ideas generation, improved teamwork, better interpersonal relationships between managers and workers and between co-workers, improved employee engagement and retention. Wider business advantages include access to new markets, product/service innovations, access to broader customer bases, improved corporate reputation.

Ensure you assess the value for employees, customer AND wider stakeholders. This could be one example covering all, or multiple examples. 

  • An overview of Diversity and Inclusion legislation using key employment case studies to highlight the consequences of non-compliance (AC 1.2) 

Overview of equality and diversity legislation; the Equality Act 2010, protected characteristics, Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA) requirements; ethnicity, gender and pay gap data, an assessment of group-based discrimination and disadvantage and how organisations can protect groups and individuals from unlawful direct or indirect discrimination, harassment and victimization. Review of key employment cases to highlight the consequences of non-compliance and demonstrate regulation in action.

  • Illustrate two barriers to achieving diversity and inclusion in organizations (AC 1.3)
     
    Weaknesses in senior leadership commitment/lack of willingness to present a compelling case, difficulties in attracting a diverse workforce, costs, creating positive role models, managing change, overcoming individual and group resistance/conflict, teamworking dynamics, cultural differences, misinformation, and information gaps, deficiencies in training and development.
