This assignment asks you to examine the concepts of leadership and management in housing, and relate them to your organisation, and your own professional development. 

Part 1 – Literature Review

For this part of the assignment, you should research theories of management and leadership.  You will be signposted to resources but will also be expected to show independent research skills.  You should use an accepted referencing system (e.g. Harvard) in presenting your findings; there is a factsheet on this in Teams Files.  
Please bear in mind that at Level 5 you are expected to assess, evaluate and critically discuss the theories, not simply describe them.  

From your research, critically discuss at least four theories of management and/or leadership that you can relate to a housing context.  (1.1)

Evaluate the difference between leadership and management, and how this might differ in different housing contexts. (1.2)

Analyse how leadership contributes to the creation of the organisation’s vision and the communication of the vision to others. (2.2)

How does the behaviour of managers impact on housing organisation, positively and negatively? (3.2)

What do you believe is the most effective leadership style for achieving organisational objectives in housing organisations?  You need to justify your view using references to theory and practice.  (2.3)
